ICxA Membership FAQs

Find answers to the most common questions about ICxA membership options and registration process.

As an Outcome Leader, you’ll gain access to ICxA research summaries, newsletters, webinars, and insight reports on why projects fail and how to improve outcomes. You’ll receive early access to new standards, white papers, tools, templates, and future certification and training opportunities. Most importantly, you’ll join a growing community of professionals who recognize that the current project delivery model is broken and want to help lead the shift toward a better, outcome-based model.
No. Outcome Assurance is not limited to technical roles. If you’ve been involved in managing, coordinating, or leading system or operational readiness — regardless of your title — you qualify. Membership and certification recognizes leadership, responsibility, and real-world contribution, not just job titles or degrees.
When you join as an ICxA Professional Member, you get access to the ICxA Certification Roadmap and certification exams. There is an exam sitting fee for each certification exam attempt when you are ready to progress in your career. You're in control and can choose the path that is right for you.
Each level requires knowledge and experience. Once you have passed the exam and achieved the required experience, you progress to the next level. There is no time limit to complete each level. When you earn each level, you achieve the next ICxA Certification Level, which is displayed on the ICxA website and verifiable on your certificate. Once enrolled as a Professional Member, you will receive access to the ICxA Certification Roadmap to choose what is best for you.
Yes. If you have experience leading and managing system-readiness, you can submit this experience to qualify for higher certification levels much quicker. Pass each exam and submit your experience and then be certified to the level most appropriate based on your experience.
Absolutely. ICxA is the global authority on system-readiness leadership and Outcome Assurance. Our certification is based on the ICxA Global Standards, and is recognized by owners, contractors, and integrators around the world. Many companies now use ICxA certification as a hiring or promotion benchmark for leadership roles in system and operational readiness.
You’ll receive a digital certificate, validated with current ICxA membership, a professional designation, and official recognition on the ICxA global registry (displayed on website). But more importantly, you’ll join the ranks of outcome leaders — professionals trusted to govern complex projects to successful outcomes.
When you write each exam, there is an exam sitting fee for each attempt. If you don't pass the exam on the first attempt, you can pay a reduced fee for each subsequent attempt. Certification is earned, not handed out, and we’re here to support your leadership journey with clarity and integrity.
Yes. ICxA certification is maintained through annual or monthly membership. This gives you ongoing access to certification and exams, global standards, and membership benefits. It also supports the continuous improvement of the ICxA Global Standard and professional community.
Absolutely. If you have a specific question or want to confirm whether this is the right step for your career, just reach out. You can contact us directly by email at info@icxa.net, or use the form on our website. We're happy to help you make an informed decision with zero pressure.

If You Are Accountable for Project Outcomes, This Is Your Professional Body

Outcome accountability is increasing across projects, organizations, and governments.
ICxA membership positions you ahead of this shift – with recognition, standards, and certification to match.

ICxA is a non‑profit, institute‑level professional body. Membership supports the advancement of shared standards and professional recognition across the field, rather than commercial product sales.

ICxA membership does not guarantee employment, certification, or appointment to specific roles. It establishes professional standing within the Commissioning & Assurance discipline.
