The Industrial Commissioning Association (ICA) is rapidly expanding, with local chapters being established across the globe. In this episode, we explore how you can get involved with ICA and the various initiatives we’re undertaking to help project teams understand commissioning and its value to successful projects.

Why ICA Was Created

There has been significant interest in ICA and its mission to promote the importance of commissioning. The need for an organization like ICA became clear as the commissioning community faced numerous challenges on projects.

When we initially began discussing commissioning and sharing our message, the response was overwhelming. Numerous requests poured in to establish local chapters. Although we were uncertain about launching chapters early on, the persistent demand highlighted a strong interest in joining the movement to advocate for commissioning.

The Rise of Local Chapters

To meet this demand, ICA opened the opportunity to start local chapters. The response was extraordinary—chapters began forming overnight. The participation and engagement from the commissioning community have been inspiring, and we are thrilled to support this global network.

    Role of Local Chapter Leads

Local chapter leads play a pivotal role in ICA’s mission:

    1. Spreading the Commissioning Message
      • Leads help educate people about commissioning, its purpose, and its benefits for projects.
      • They encourage new members to join ICA, expanding the commissioning community.
    2. Involvement in Technical Initiatives
      • Leads contribute to the development of the ICA Global Commissioning Standard, a comprehensive resource to guide commissioning practices.
      • They participate in research initiatives, providing insights and data analysis to improve project outcomes.
    3. Engaging with Local Communities
      • Local leads understand the unique needs of their communities, enabling them to support projects effectively.
      • They collaborate with other organizations, such as project management groups and construction associations, to broaden awareness of commissioning.

    Benefits of Local Chapters

The main goal of local chapters is to facilitate the dissemination of the commissioning message. By reaching more people and helping them understand commissioning, ICA ensures that more projects succeed. Additionally, local chapters provide:

    • A direct connection for commissioning professionals in their region.
    • Opportunities to engage with local groups and grow ICA’s membership base.
