ICxA Certification
ICxA Certification
This is your pathway to become part of the elite 1% of professionals leading the most complex projects to completion.
Goal: To certify professionals based on their ability to lead system-readiness activities that contribute directly to Outcome Assurance across the project lifecycle.
Certification Principles
Outcome-first: Focused on delivering real-world results – not just completing checklists.
Lifecycle-aware: Focuses on leadership across the entire project journey – from early investment planning and approvals, through design and engineering, all the way to final operational handover – not just the hands-on work done onsite.
Role-tiered: Four levels reflecting increasing responsibility and alignment with the five Outcome Assurance pillars.

How Certification Works
ICxA certification is built on a simple, rigorous, and scalable framework that ensures every certified individual meets the highest standards in Outcome Assurance.
Step 1: Join ICxA as a Member
All certification candidates maintain an active ICxA membership by paying a low monthly subscription fee. This provides access to exclusive tools, training, and the certification platform.
Step 2: Complete the Core Commissioning Project Management Course
All candidates must complete the foundational Commissioning Project Management Course and pass the associated exam. This is the required baseline to achieve the Certified Commissioning Professional (CxP) level.
Step 3: Advance Based on Experience
Once the CxP level is achieved, individuals with relevant project experience may submit a portfolio to qualify for advanced certification levels:
-
Certified Commissioning Leader (CxL)
-
Certified Commissioning Project Manager (CxPM)
-
Certified Outcome Authority (OA)
Progression is voluntary and entirely based on demonstrated capability.
