Global Cx Standard

ICxA is setting the standard for commissioning of industrial plant process/energy systems

ICA Global Commissioning Standard

The Industrial Commissioning Association is defining the global commissioning standard, available to all companies in need of a standard to apply commissioning best practices to their projects.

The ICA Global Commissioning Standard consists of the following:

– ICA-001 Phases of the Commissioning Process

– ICA-002 Terminology

– ICA-003 Roles & Responsibilities

– ICA-004 Commissioning Strategy & Planning

– ICA-005 Design, Manufacturing, Installation

– ICA-006 On-Site Testing

– ICA-007 Handover, In-Service, Closeout

– ICA-008 Safety & Risk Management

– ICA-009 Lessons Learned & Continuous Improvement

These documents are currently drafted and under review by our peer network of industry experts to gather the collective wisdom of the commissioning community, to make this the most rigorous and robust commissioning standard available.

Once released, this new and modern commissioning standard will be available to everyone in the ICxA Member’s Area, at no cost, for any project teams to reference or use as a method to evaluate individuals knowledge and expereince of commissioning.

This isn’t an improvement on old commissioning standards – this is a new commissioning standard incorporating the most current and cutting edge methods to successfully manage commissioning of today’s most complex projects.

In addition, the Industrial Commissioning Association will also be releasing a CxPM certification program to certify individuals to this standard. This will be the hardest commissioning exam to pass and the highest certification available in the industry. For anyone familiar with National Grid’s TP141 certification, this new CxPM certification will be to the same or higher level, to identify the industry leaders for industrial plant process/energy system commissioning.

The CxPM certification program will be publically available for anyone (who meets the minimum requirements) to challenge the exam, or enroll in ICxA’s exam prep course to prepare to write the certification exam.

This is for Companies:

– To recruit the best and the brightest in the industry to fill critical commissioning leadership roles on projects

– To ensure the quality of people in commissioning leadership roles is extremely high

– To show clients the quality of service provided and the value that commissioning provides to projects

This is for Individuals:

– To finally be recognized with the highest certification available for their significant effort undertaken to learn the art of commissioning and be leaders in the industry

– To be recognized not only for knowledge, but also the years of experience applying this knowledge professionally on projects

This is for the Commissioning Industry:

– To slowly and over time move towards standardizing commissioning processes on projects
